Nuttycombe spoke in depth to many legislators across the aisle (too many to list) about the work that State Navigate would be doing in West Virginia in the coming months. He dropped off fliers at each legislator’s office that informed them about State Navigate’s work, which drew bipartisan excitement. Originally, State Navigate’s plan was to launch in the Mountain State sometime in Spring 2025, but our team wanted to ensure a quality framework for our “Phase III” states as we churn out launches over the next several months.

It was just two weeks ago from today that the first Phase III launch, Wisconsin Navigate launched. The real work in both Wisconsin and West Virginia began over the Summer, and after State Navigate finished its framework for state launches and launched its free API. It only took two weeks for us to finish that work by finalizing our election maps and scraping/importing campaign finance data.

Like in Wisconsin and Utah, there isn’t any W-NOMINATE ideology/rollcall vote content, nor is there legislator and committee profile content, during this launch: the legislative term must be completed before we run these features. Our plan is to unveil each state’s legislative forecasts 100 days before each state’s primary day.
